The First IEEE International Workshop on Technology-Enhanced Culture and Heritage (TECH 2022)
Workshop Theme: “Challenges and Strategies in the Digitisation, Digital Preservation and Online Accessibility of Cultural Heritage Assets”
Workshop Introduction & Scope: The COVID pandemic has, amongst many other things, emphasised the need for more online and digital access to things we had previously taken for granted, including, amongst others, museum artefacts. This workshop, organised by the Digital Heritage Centre at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, focuses on topics related to practical approaches to, and critical issues in, the digitisation, digital preservation and online accessibility of cultural heritage assets. We are interested in papers addressing the following:
- How 3D technology can be utilised for the digitisation of cultural heritage, such as historical buildings, artefacts, monuments and sites.
- Challenges and critical issues in digital cultural heritage (e.g. authenticity), as well as examples of good practices.
- Strategies and initiatives in the digital preservation of cultural heritage in connection with UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Issues in digital curation, and access to digitised public domain material, and exploration of how Open Education Resources (OERs) may support this.
- Examination of how digital heritage can be utilised in the education experience, including as content that could be releases (and curated) as OERs.
This workshop aims at providing a platform for researchers and practitioners in the field of Digital Cultural Heritage to share and discuss their work and best practices. We are confident that the all participants will benefit greatly from this exchange and sharing of ideas in their research and project work but also in education and teaching.
Likely Participants: Software engineers, educators, and professional heritage-related workers (including, for example, museum workers) are invited to participate and exchange ideas and techniques.
