Goal of the RPE

The Research Projects Exhibition (RPE) Special Session provides a dedicated forum for researchers, R&D specialists and practitioners from academia and industry to present ongoing or nearly completed research projects, share preliminary results, and receive constructive feedback. By fostering active dialogue among participants, this Special Session serves as a platform to explore innovative research directions and stimulate new collaborations.

The RPE Special Session promotes knowledge exchange and discussion of emerging solutions aligned with the themes of COMPSAC symposia, with particular emphasis on research projects that address novel challenges or adopt interdisciplinary perspectives. Submissions are welcome from both mature research projects with concrete outcomes and early-stage initiatives seeking feedback, validation, or collaboration opportunities.

Eligible projects

A project is eligible for the RPE Special Session if it tackles challenges or applies techniques relevant to the themes of COMPSAC symposia, and if it is framed as a research initiative.

Eligible projects may be ongoing or nearing completion, and should aim to address within a defined period, and by a team or consortium of teams, a challenge posed by an organization or funding entity. This includes projects funded by international, national, or local organizations, universities, industries, or other funding bodies. Both fundamental and applied research initiatives, as well as industry-oriented research projects, are welcome.

Submission guidelines

Prospective authors are required to submit a short paper describing a single project (with a limit of 4 pages including figures and references, formatted in IEEE double-column style, adhering to the IEEE Conference Paper template.

Submission must be done via EasyChair, selecting the “Research Projects Exhibition” track.

The paper must clearly present the project and provide, at a minimum, the following information:

  • Project details: full name, acronym, duration (from–to), participants, funding agency/institution, and URL
  • Authors and contributors: names of presenter(s) and main contributors
  • Abstract and keywords describing the project
  • Objectives and expected outputs: summary of project objectives and expected tangible results
  • Relevance: explanation of how the project (or one of its work packages) aligns with the themes of COMPSAC symposia
  • Current status and results: summary of ongoing progress, intermediate results, or milestones achieved (if the project is ongoing)

The reviewing process will be single-blinded. Each submission will be reviewed by at least two members of the Program Committee. In case of disagreement, a third member of the Program Committee will be invited to provide an additional review.

Attendance and presentation

All accepted papers that are registered and presented in person, as required, will be published in the official electronic IEEE COMPSAC proceedings.

During the RPE Special Session, the authors of accepted contributions will present their research projects. Further information regarding the Special Session format and guidelines for preparing the presentation will be provided to authors after the acceptance notification.
