IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR COMPSAC 2022 AUTHORS

COMPSAC 2022 will be completely virtual as it was in 2020 and 2021, and all presentations will be done virtually. We will announce this update also in the submission acceptance letters to authors. Authors of accepted papers will be required to provide a video of their presentation together with the submission of the final version of their papers. COMPSAC will provide detailed guidance regarding preparation and submission of these videos.

12th IEEE International Workshop on Industrial Experience in Embedded Systems Design (IEESD 2022)

Goal of the workshop:

Emerging software engineering methods and tools are influencing industrial software development both in their result and in software engineering approaches. One example is machine learning, where artificial neural networks are a prominent and much discussed model. The complexity of such neural networks is high enough to put evenly high pressure on the quality control of the underlying software development. In this way, solutions have emerged in new areas that simultaneously reduce predictability and testability of these systems. In addition, the highly interconnected and modular nature of industrial systems requires developers to pay even greater attention to the quality aspects of hardware/software systems. Therefore, the current state of adaptation of software solutions to embedded systems and their use in networked industrial environments is an important challenge that will be discussed and elaborated in this workshop.

Workshop theme:

The theme of the workshop is the consideration of new software solution of embedded systems. New hardware / software components and libraries arer facilitating the development of interconnected embedded devices. Furthermore, the required availability of cloud‐systems and programming libraries that enable rapid integration and quality control at the same time while the fast update and change cycles cause uncertainty leads to new development approaches. They promote the application and further development of scientific approaches in the field of collaborative industrial and embedded systems.

Scope of the workshop:

Papers are expected to cover (non‐restrictively) one or more of the following topics:

  • Adaptable, Evolvable Software and Hardware Architectures, Execution Models and Runtime Platforms
  • Novel approaches and experiences with existing approaches of collaborative, service‐oriented industrial
  • systems.
  • The diversity of industrial embedded systems.
  • Experience reports with embedded systems out of different domains for collaborative and/or serviceoriented
  • systems.
  • Model‐Driven Development for collaborative embedded systems
  • Software Architectures for and testing od complex embedded systems
  • Development Methods, Processes and Tools for complex embedded Systems
  • Coupling of Devices and Enterprise Applications

Likely participants: Researchers and practitioners in the area of embedded technical systems, their development, analysis, maintenance, management.
